General Dentistry
No matter how disciplined you are in your daily oral hygiene routine of brushing, flossing, and rinsing, you can never fully get rid of all of the food particles and bacteria that build up on, and in between your teeth and gums. This build up is commonly referred to as plaque, and can cause a multitude of oral health issues, ranging from cavities, to the more serious, gum disease (periodontal disease).
It’s highly recommended that you go to the dentist twice a year to remove this accumulation of inevitable plaque build up. A minimal time and money investment in your bi-annual cleanings (dental visits) can help to prevent these issues from ever developing into much more serious (and much more costly) dental problems further down the road. It’s similar to as if you never changed the oil in your car. After a while, it will inevitably end up costing even more to fix than the minimal investment of performing routine maintenance throughout the year. We look forward to working closely with you in helping to not only get your oral health on the right track for today, but to keep it there for the long term as well.
Even if it’s been several years since you’ve visited the dentist, don’t worry, it is never too late to get back on the right track! Learn what to expect during your first visit back at our blog article here.
Our General Dentistry Services Include:
- Comprehensive Exams
- Professional Cleanings
- Fluoride Treatments
- Digital Panoramic X-Rays (Which means better image quality and less waiting for you)
- Sealants
Restorative Dentistry
There are many factors including age, heredity, and lifestyle choices that can all contribute to dental health issues such as discoloration, chips, cracks, worn surfaces, and even missing teeth. Restorative care encompasses a wide variety of clinical treatments to restore broken down, and diseased teeth back to their proper form, function, and aesthetic qualities. As well as replacing missing teeth and restoring proper occlusion or bite.
Restorative dentistry covers a broad range of treatments from restoring a single tooth, to full mouth reconstruction and rehabilitation involving most or all of the patients’ teeth, to opening the patients’ bite and re-establishing their entire chewing motion to proper function.
Our Restorative Care Services Include:
- Dental Implants
- Dental Crowns (All Ceramic)
- Dentures (Full and Partial)
- Bridges
- White/ Composite/ Tooth Colored Fillings
- Root Canals

Pediatric Dentistry
At Valley Family Dental, we have the “family” in our name for a reason. Not only do we welcome children into our practice, but it’s truly our greatest joy in working with them! As a matter of fact, most of our team members have children of their own, including Dr. West, who has two boys. So we’ve not only had the personal experience of knowing how to handle children, but we’ve had the professional training and experience to know how to best manage their oral health, and dental experience as well. Like many adults, children can also develop fears about going to the dentist. But rest assured, we know just what to do to help alleviate those fears and turn their trips to the dentist into a fun experience that they’ll look forward to every six months!
Oral Surgery (Wisdom Teeth Removal)
Wisdom teeth are the final teeth to emerge inside your mouth. When they align properly, and gum tissue is healthy, the wisdom teeth don’t need to be removed. Unfortunately, this usually is not the case, and most people end up needing to have them removed entirely.
The reason being, is that they may grow in sideways, only partially break through the gums, or even remain trapped beneath the gum and bone. These impacted teeth can move into a variety of hazardous positions as they attempt to break through the gums. Therefore, if not proactively removed, they will then erupt unsuccessfully and potentially lead to a multitude of oral health issues.
For instance, when they partially emerge, the opening around the tooth allows bacteria to grow and will eventually lead to an infection. This results in stiffness, swelling, pain, and even illness. The pressure from the emerging tooth can then cause other teeth to be “pushed around,” then interfering with the natural alignment of the teeth, thus causing a need for future orthodontic treatment. More seriously, tumors or cysts could form around the impacted tooth or teeth, which results in the destruction of the jawbone and other formerly healthy teeth. Removal of your wisdom teeth early on typically mitigates the potential occurrence of these issues from ever developing.
An oral examination and x-rays of the mouth can help evaluate where the wisdom teeth are currently positioned and predict if there may be present, or future problems. Studies have proven that an early evaluation and treatment result in a greater overall outcome for the patient. Especially considering that the older we get, the more dense our jawbone becomes, making it much more difficult of a procedure the longer we wait. So it’s generally recommended that patients are first evaluated in their mid-teenage years by their dentist.
Anxiety Control Dentistry
Fear of pain is the number one reason people avoid seeing the dentist. The good news is, that this fear doesn’t need to prevent you from seeing the dentist any longer!
There are now a wide variety of medications, and anxiety relieving methods, which have been proven to reduce or eliminate pain as well as help with anxiety during most dental procedures.
